(More customer reviews)I've been using these Haynes books for years, and this is the worse one I have found yet. The things that are good about it (described in the other reviews) are good only because there's nothing better out there. This book has two main problems: first, the photographs reveal too little, and have too little definition. They also were taken with components removed--but the problem is that removing those components is usually not described in that particular section. In fact, it doesn't even tell you that it should be removed. Example: in order to get to the thermostat, you have to remove the distributor. But it doesn't tell you that. Also, in order to get to the fuel filter, you have to remove SOMETHING. But it doesn't tell you what. Second, steps are skipped in the descriptions--important ones. Not only are they skipped, but they are inadequately described. Example: In order to realign the distrubutor (which, by the way, you have to do if you take it off [which, by the way, you have to do if you want to replace the thermostat]) you have to get the number one piston at top dead center (TDC). The book tells you to align the notch on the crankshatp alligns with the T mark on the timeing plate. What timing plate? Where? The picture helps nothing, it doesn't show what angle it's taken from--it's completely random.
So, I'd try to buy it used. They just have gotten lazy with these things over the years. They need to remember: on foreign cars, you can't skip steps, because everything is buried, everything is in the way.
