Ms. Chase has been faced with all of the problems that a woman faces in trying to get her automobile running. This includes being treated as an idiot at the service shop, getting some repair estimates that rival the gross national product of a small country, and of course being told that there's nothing wrong with her car and she's imagining that funny noise.
Consequently she has been forced to get at least a nominal acquaintence with those things under the hood. In this book she covers those basic things that just might save you an awful lot of money, time, and agravation.
Her book talks about things like getting a basic set of tools, learning how to check the vital fluids that keep the car running, and some very good advice on getting help to diagnose a problem or find someone that can do the repair.
I also apppreciated some of her comments on looking things over before you really need them. A friend of mine didn't do this and on night fifty miles from nowhere he needed to jack up his car, he hadn't checked to notice that his new car came without a jack handle. And in my pickup I had to go ask someone where the jack handle was stored, the picture in the owners didn't give a clue.
A lot of good solid tips here. While it's written by a woman and seems intended for a female audience, it's helpful to some of us males as well.
