(More customer reviews)If you're looking for some interesting articles on the 351 Cleveland engine this is an excellent book. While there is nothing recent in the book there is still a great deal of information about the 351 C and it's development as a racing engine for Pro Stock and Nascar circle track use. Getting to see some of the techniques used by Bud Moore back in the days when Nascar stock car racing used production based engines was really very interesting.
Recommended.

(More customer reviews)The Mustang represents the difference between cars designed by financial types from those designed by car types. Just before the Mustang the need for smaller cars became clear. McNamara was in charge of Ford and his answer was the Falcon. I don't know of many people who think the Falcon was the high point of Ford's history. Lee Iacocca took the basic Falcon, put new skins on it and the Mustang was born. We are now in another period where the financial types are in charge, and the blah cars and the red ink coming out of Detroit show it. ==It's been forty years since the Mustang came out in 1964, and even the original ones still look great. In fact you might argue that the originals were the best of any of the Mustangs that followed. ==This book spends over half of its pages describing the various Mustangs that were built. The back of the book talks about restoration. But don't expect details on how to restore a car. This part covers things like maintenance and where to get parts. It is fairly general in nature. After all, things like rebuilding an engine would take a whole book by itself.

If you want to know how much horsepower and torque a particular throttle body, supercharger, or set of cams will give you, this is the book for you. The book contains mostly engine dyno numbers, so you have to remember that the numbers will be higher than on a chassis dyno.

Haynes Ford Mustang 1994 thru 1999 (Haynes Repair Manuals) Review

(More customer reviews)I just got this book a week ago. I haven't really done any repairs based on this book yet, but it seems to be an okay book. It has different sections on each of the major systems of the car viz. cooling, heating and ac systems, fuel and exhaust systems, engine electrical systems, emissions and engine control systems, transmission systems, suspension and steering systems, chassis electrical system etc.
I basically bought this book hoping to be able to troubleshoot a trouble code (P0183) that made my 99 Mustang's "Service Engine" light to come on. This code is not listed in the OBD II codes list in this book. According to my scan tool, this code means "Engine Fuel Temperature Sensor A shows a high input value". This book does not have any mention of an Engine Fuel Temperature Sensor. So, I have to warn you there may be a few things missing in this book.
I think one essential section that should be in any of today's auto repair manuals is a section on the possible trouble codes and step-by-step troubleshooting for each code. In the 3 cars that I have owned in the last 6 years, one common issue has been the "Service Engine" light coming on out of the blue. Dealers make big bucks just debugging the OBD code. My dealer charged me 120 for just reading the code and finding out what is wrong.
Also, I felt that many of the pictures are too close-up making it extremely difficult to determine the relative location on the car.
