(More customer reviews)I own several books on Series Land Rovers and this one is a much loved volume in my workshop reading and reference library. As someone who is currently restoring a 64, SWB, Series 2a from the rolling chassis up, I can say without any hesitation that this book is every bit the masterpiece.
Whether you are a novice starting out or an old hand looking for a good general restoration guide this book covers many areas in detail that some of the workshop manuals don't. This book is chock full of photographs with easy to follow text and is full of brilliant advice on all things Series Land Rover. I cannot recommend this work highly enough as I have found it fills the gaps that my other manuals don't.
Contents include detailed discussion of Heritage, Buying and what to look for in various models, the pitfalls of different models and the like. Section three gets straight into the Bodywork where the detailed photographs and text begin. This takes you right through every facet of the Series 2's body. There are notes on Series 1 restoration and mechanical restorations which are detailed and lavish with some exploded parts. Finally you are taken through a nice Interior and Electrics section and the book eases you down with information on Chassis numbering, Tech specs, Workshop safety issues, Development Milestones, Production Figures and so on. A Superb work that should be on every Series Land Rover owners shelf.

Mr. Lieberman weaves a tapestry of pertinent process engineering problems with an entertaining and insightful narrative common to some of my favorite fiction. Parts of this book could stand on its own for entertainment value. I found myself laughing out loud at parts while reading during a night shift during a turnaround. My operators now think I'm more boring than white bread.
The examples are highly relevant to anyone in refining / CPI. Technical information is presented in Norm's usual easy-to-read style.
If this book accomplishes its goal, you will approach a request for adding new equipment in a different light. A common theme in Norm's books is due dillegence. Leave no stone unturned. If there is data that can be collected, go get it! This book ties those previous themes with a new message of environmental conservation. For the engineer that considers his impact on the world after he's gone, its very empowering.

(More customer reviews)Dry, awkward formatting, curious layout, many poorly explained diagrams with very small print on them, and habitually presents equations without clearly explaining what all the terms in the equations mean or what the equation is called. A textbook should be at least sort of useful without having a professor physically at your elbow to explain what is meant by everything in it. Don't even think about skipping class, no matter how sick you are, if this is what you'll have to try to catch up with.
